Self Build

Brief

We undertook this barn conversion for the clients who were looking to create a multi-use space. The building was designed by local architects Randell Design Group and features an open plan office space with two large self contained apartments. The mixed usage and building efficiancy targets made this a really interesting project to be involved with. Point 1 building systems specified and installed the frame, with Cormorant taking on the project to completion of first fix phase.

Methods and Materials

This project used a Kingspan Tech SIPS panels with additional insulation to achieve a SAP A rating. Due to the fantastic insulation values and air-tightness target of 3M3/H M2@50PA the entire building can be heated by a single air source heat pump and MVHR system. These systems were designed and supplied by Covers Builders Merchants.

The exterior material finishes were chosen for their simplicity and elegance with lignia cladding and a beautiful folded zinc roof.

The windows and doors were supplied by Unilux. They are triple glazed timber aluminium windows which achieve a package U value below 1W/m2k.
